read live setup steps
Setup1-Reset your teacher password (see ReadLive’s temporary password email)
2-Login with the STUDENT's account information 3-Set their level to begin the program. This first time will require you to either do a placement test with the student or to manually set their reading level and goal. Here is what you need to know for those options. placementNOTE: The student needs to start somewhere and the beginning level can always be changed by you if the level they are on is either too easy or two hard. You will be able to change it at any time.
Manual Placement: If you want to manually enter a series/level/goal, you are welcome to use the info below for helps. 1st, 2nd, 3rd 30-60 words per minute 4th, 5th 60-80 words per minute 6th, 7th 80-100 words per minute 8th 100-140 words per minute Testing for Placement: If you click on Test the Student for Placement, it will bring up a screen with the different levels on it. A good place to start on the placement is to pick the child’s grade level or if you think they are below or above grade level, then select accordingly. sequenced & PhonicsFor the lower levels, there are two options: the sequenced and the phonics. The phonics series includes a word list that focuses on the sounds listed. For most younger students, I would recommend staying with the phonics series when it is an option. For the placement, you can just click on the grade level you want to test for.
After you click on the grade level, it will bring up a story on that level. Click on Start Timing and have the child read that story out loud. If they pause for three seconds, you can help them with the word and have them keep going. You need to keep track of the number of words that they get wrong and/or that you help them with so there will be an accurate count of the correct number of words that they read during that minute. When the timing beeps, click on the last word that they read. Then enter the number that they got wrong in the correct box. resultsThen click on NEXT and it will take you to a results screen. This screen will either tell you what level to start them at in the program or recommend that you continue testing at another level.
Continue testingIf at any time you feel like you know what level and goal you would like to start them at, you are welcome to MANUALLY set that on the screen. If you want to continue testing to find their placement level, then click on Next and select the next level you want to test them at and another story will pop up. Continue testing until it tells you the level to start at or you are comfortable setting it manually.
readyThen once the level and goal has been set, it is ready for the child to begin the program.
